NASHVILLE, Tenn. (February 5, 2025) – The Nashville General Hospital Foundation proudly recognizes Lambda Iota Sigma Chapter of Sigma Gamma Rho Sorority, Inc. for their continued commitment to supporting the tiniest patients at Nashville General Hospital. Through their annual Founders Day Event in November and Hart of Love initiative in February, the sorority generously donated $2,500 to Margaret’s Closet. This program provides essential supplies to families of newborns in need.
Margaret’s Closet was founded by NICU Nurse Margaret Lovell, who has selflessly purchased baby essentials to support families who lack the financial means to provide for their newborns. Thanks to the ongoing generosity of Lambda Iota Sigma, the program can continue to supply critical items such as diapers, wipes, bottles, onesies, hand-knitted blankets, and, when possible, car seats and pack-and-plays. These essential supplies help ensure newborns have a strong and safe start in life.
“This incredible donation will directly impact so many families,” said Kristina Schachte, Women’s Services Clinic Director at Nashville General Hospital. “Margaret’s Closet is a lifeline for many parents who need extra support, and we are so grateful for the continued partnership with Lambda Iota Sigma.”
This marks the third year Lambda Iota Sigma has supported Margaret’s Closet, a connection initially made by Karen Marks, a former staff member at Nashville General Hospital and a proud sister of Sigma Gamma Rho. The sorority’s unwavering dedication to giving back to the community reflects its mission of service and empowerment.
The Nashville General Hospital Foundation extends its deepest gratitude to Lambda Iota Sigma of Sigma Gamma Rho Sorority, Inc. for their generosity and commitment to improving the lives of needy families.
